A sleigh full of New Year's Blessings - for The Cutting Cafe

Happy New Year, everyone!  Here were are on the last day of 2013.  I'll be spending it with my nursing home family.  It's a regular work day for me, then we have a huge New Year's Eve party this evening.  I always tell the residents I'll party as long and as late as they want to.  We start at 6:30pm.  The latest we've ever partied is 8pm.  Party animals, for sure!  But we have great accordion music, bubbly, lots of refreshments (including shrimp, pickled herring, cheese & crackers), party hats and noise makers, and LOTS of door prizes for the attendees.  Great fun!
And now, for my last Cutting Café project of this term.  I'm back for a second term, so there'll be another project next week.
This week was a free week.  I searched and searched the various SVG stores for the perfect sleigh.  The first one I tried was so difficult to glue, it went straight into the waste basket.  It looked kind of like a rickshaw.  The second one was adorable, but so small, it would only hold one chocolate kiss.  Then, I found this, at The Cutting Café.

There, I found it!  The perfect treat box sleigh!  It holds a small bag of Hershey's kisses (or other delights) wonderfully. It's sturdy, and easy to assemble.  Plus, it's a joy to embellish.
Here's the other side:

I used Echo Park designer papers on this box.  All card stock is Close To My Heart.  The 3/4 inch fabric buttons are from Pinque Peacock.  The black crinkle ribbon is 3 Girl JAM, and so is the muslin bag.
I may be done with holiday projects for this year, but I'll definitely be making this again in the future!  It is one of my favorite cutting files EVER!
Happy New Year, everyone! May it be a healthy, crafty one.

I did it! 52 Weeks of FWF!

Last January, I made the new year's resolution to link up to Unity's Friends With Flair each week.  Well, 52 weeks later, I'm proud to say, I did it!
I have a few cards to share with you this week.  A couple were on my blog earlier this week, but haven't seen much traffic and they have great Unity stamps, so I'm showing them again, and I made a card today for the Unity "Be Inspired" Challenge.  I'll show you my challenge card first.

I used the card sketch, turned it sideways, and took a little artistic license with it to come up with this:

I used papers that I got for 99 cents from Unity Stamp Company.  The stamp is a Unity/Stephanie Ackerman co-brand called "Small Things/Great Love".  It is my New Year's advice to you, and a great motto to live by every day of the year! There's also some UmWow Studio chipboard that I embossed with Creative Inspirations Paint Deliquesce Fine Black embossing powder on this card. There's a little paper piecing on the heart.

Next, an anniversary card I made a couple weeks ago for my husband:

On the inside I wrote, "through snow or sleet, our love is complete."  How sappy is that? This card uses the Unity Itty Bitty stamp, Rain or Shine. There's some 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon and a 3 Girl JAM Real Life Flair button on this card, too.

And, a couple of New Year's cards for you. I made this one for this week's Cutting Café post, but it uses a Unity Fashionista, so I'm sharing it again here:

This is Anastasia, and she is ready for a party!

The wine glass cutting file can be found HERE.  It is from The Cutting Café.

The sentiment is from the Unity Sassy Pants set.

I have one more card to leave you with.  No Unity Stamps here, but it's a great card to send you off with:

I used more UmWow chipboard, embossed with Creative Inspirations Paint Deliquesce Super Sparkle Gold.  The card is a cutting file from the Silhouette Online Store.  I painted some Gold Creative Inspirations Paint behind the sentiment.
My New Year's resolution for 2014?  I want to get more involved in the Unity FB Show & Tell Group.  I've been missing the fun! And, my more serious New Year's resolution?  I'd like to see if I can go all year without buying any new scrapbook paper.  I HAVE to use up my stash!  This'll be a tough one!!!

Happy New Year, everyone!

You & Me -- for 3 Girl JAM

'Tis the Season!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and aren't spending today in the stores returning gifts!  You should, however, spend a little time at the 3 Girl JAM Store, checking out the new Flair buttons.  They are SO much fun! And of course, there is scrumptious crinkle ribbon in every color of the rainbow to snatch up, too! I am posting today on the 3 Girl JAM blog with a card.
My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary a couple week's ago.  I made a card for him that used a Real Life Flair Button as the focal point.  What do you think?

Don't you love that Flair button? I also used Ice Blue ribbon from the Hot & Cold Bundle on this card.
The adorable couple and sentiment are both part of a Unity Stamp Company Itty Bitty stamp set called, appropriately, "Rain or Shine."  I paper pieced the umbrella and her boots.
I used several Spellbinders dies on this card. The Kraft, white, and Bubblegum card stock are by Close To My Heart.  Designer Paper is Fancy Pants Park Bench.
On the inside of the card, I wrote, "through snow or sleet, our love is complete."  Aw, how mushy is that?
Happy holidays, everyone!

Time To Dance on the Table! - for The Cutting Cafe

Merry Christmas, my blog friends!  Phew! The big day is almost here.  I have today off of work, but will be at the nursing home on Christmas Day, spending it with my "other family".
This week, at The Cutting Café, the design team is featuring either a wine glass or a wine-bottle shaped card. Well, I had a riot with this one!
I used the oh-so-fun wine glass shaped cutting file...

This card is larger than I usually make.  It measures 5x6 1/2.  I made it a little larger so I could make the wine glass large, to really stand out on the card -- the same reason for the pink glitter paper.
The background paper started as a piece of shiny cardstock that I used some alcohol inks on.
Here's a close up of the wine glass and Fashionista:

The Fashionista is a Unity Stamp Company creation called Anastasia.  She was so much fun to color with Copic markers!
The sentiment is also from Unity Stamp Company.  It's from a set called, "Sassy Pants." I stamped the sentiment using StazOn ink.

On the inside of the card, I used one of the many printable stamp sets from The Cutting Café. I used the "It's New Year Time" printable stamp set.

The card is finished off with some glitter trim from Close To My Heart.
That's it for today's post.  I still have lots to do!
Enjoy the holidays! Have fun! And if you dance on the table, I wanna see a picture!

Winter Snow -- for Get Inky! Stamps

Hello, crafty friends! Here we are, two days before Christmas.  And today is the start of a new challenge at Get Inky! Challenge.  The theme for the next two weeks is, "Winter Snow".  With that in mind, I used this adorable snowman to create a card...

I used the Holiday 2013 stamp set from Get Inky! Stamps to make this card.  I absolutely love this stamp set!  It is so easy to be creative with the wide variety of images and sentiments in this set.  I paper pieced the hat and bow tie on this adorable snowman.  I used Viva Décor pearl pens on the tassel, brim, eyes, nose, and buttons.  There's some Timeless Twine wrapped around the Kraft cardstock. Designer papers are from My Mind's Eye.
This is my last post for Get Inky! Stamps.  I've enjoyed my time on the design team very much, and thank Thia for the opportunity to use her stamps!

I wish you Joy! for Pinque Peacock and Friends With Flair

Happy Friday, crafty friends!  Things are winding down a bit at work.  One more Christmas party today and then I can really catch my breath.  Then, I can start practicing for all the Christmas services at church.  Uff da.  This season is tiring!
I'm posting today on the Pinque Peacock blog.  I've been wanting to use this gorgeous beaded pearl stick pin for quite some time.  So, I designed a card around it.  That was a new approach for me!
When in doubt, reach for a Phyllis Harris stamp. I looked through my collection of Unity/Phyllis Harris stamps and decided on "Christmas Surprise" -- tell me what you think...

Isn't that the cutest image?  I colored it with Copic markers, did a little paper piecing and fussy cutting on the bow, used some Icicle Stickles on the little girl's hat, matted both the image and the sentiment on DP's, made a pretty bow with 3 Girl JAM London Blue ribbon from the Wine & Jewels Bundle, and added that Bea-u-ti-ful beaded stick pin.  Ahhh!

I have nothing else to say about such perfection.  That pin is perfect!
I'll leave you with the sentiment from the card, because it's my Christmas wish to all of you:
"May your season be filled with happiness and joy."

Santa is Coming -- for Cameo Creations Challenge blog

Hello, crafty friends! A week from today, and Christmas Day will have come and gone.  Yegads! I have a lot to do between now and then!  One of the things still on my "to do" list is wrap gifts.  I made a few gift card holders this year, and they are ready to put some gift cards in.  Here's one I made with a Santa theme for Cameo Creations Challenge blog.  The theme just starting up is "Santa is Coming"...

This cutting file is from My Scrap Chick. The inside has a little pocket to hold a gift card snuggly.  Perfect! One gift ready to go!
Let's see what you can make.  Link up with us at Cameo Creations Challenge blog! I'd love to see what you've made!

It's All About Ornaments for The Cutting Cafe

One week until Christmas, crafty friends! Our design team assignment this week for The Cutting Café is to use any one of a variety of files, all of them ornament related.  I've actually sent all my Christmas cards several weeks ago, and hand delivered quite a few more, so I wanted to make something OTHER than a card.  I decided to make something that would help make our living room look more festive. Using the Christmas Ornament Fun cutting files from The Cutting Café, I created this:

This 3D ornament is one of the nesting ornaments that comes with the Christmas Ornament Fun set.  I used the one that was just slightly smaller than 6 inches, so I could use 6x6 papers for the ornament.  I used 4 different papers (My Mind's Eye This & That Christmas -- both 6x6 and 12x12), cutting the shape out four times, creasing them with a bone folder down the middle, and gluing one side together.  I then cut the same shape one size larger and mounted the 3D ornament to it.  I cut an 8x10 piece of chipboard, mounted an 8x10 piece of patterned paper to it, glued down my ornament, added a charm and a bow (made from Ribbon Candy Ribbon from 3 Girl JAM), put it in an 8x10 frame, and my artwork was done!
Thanks for visiting today! Happy holidays!

May your Holidays be Filled with Laughter, Love & Joy -- for Creative Inspirations Paint

Happy holidays, my creative friends! I'm posting today on the Creative Inspirations Paint blog.  I love it when I have an excuse to play with my artsy supplies!  This time, I did some die cutting, stamping, and of course, painting.
I started out cutting out a bunch of poinsettia-like looking flowers with my Big Shot, using watercolor paper.  Here's what they looked like:

Some of them had a stamp set to match, so I stamped them before I die cut them.  It's easier to line everything up that way. Then, I started painting them, using colors that would make them look like a poinsettia.  Here's what they looked like painted:

I used Garnet (one of December's sale colors!), Evergreen (also on sale at 33% off!), and Green Olive.

Then, it was time to put it all together.  Here's what I created with these flowers:

This 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch card was made for the friend who gave me those two beautiful stick pins.  She made me a whole bunch of beautiful beaded stick pins just like these two.  I thought the least I could do was return the favor with a card.
When assembling this card, I used the rule of threes, using 3 poinsettias clusters, 3 leaves, and even 3 red rhinestones.
Here's a close up of the poinsettias and beaded stick pins...

Supplies used on this project (other than those already listed)

Unity Stamp Company "Everything Christmas" Stamp Set
Unity Stamp Company -- Wood Veneer Tags
Heartfelt Creations -- Sun Kissed Fleur Die
Heartfelt Creations -- Striped Sun Kissed Fleur Precut Set
Spellbinders doily
My Mind's Eye
Thanks for visiting today! May your holidays truly be filled with laughter, love & joy!

Tree-mendous Holiday Wishes -- for Joy's Life

Hello, blog friends. I hope you had a great weekend.  We had a day of beautiful, light snow yesterday and it put me in the holiday spirit.  Today is my last post for the Joy's Life Design Team this term. I've really enjoyed the two terms I've served on this team, and hope to continue again in the future.
Our theme this week is "It Sparkles & Shines".  With that in mind, I made a Christmas card, and added lots of bling!

I used the Joy's Life Stamp Set, "Oh Christmas Puns" on this card.
the sentiment is embossed with white embossing powder to really make it stand out.

I found this cutting file in the Silhouette Online Store. Contrasting colored paper, bling, brads with bling, some 3D foam squares, and it was a wrap.
Thanks for supporting me through my Joy's Life design team projects.  It's been a great ride!

I have two projects with a similar theme for today's hop.
Many years ago, my husband spent six months working in Antarctica.  Ever since then, penguins have been near and dear to him. We have many penguin ornaments and adornments around at Christmastime. Because of his love of the bird, I made him these:

Oh, yeah.  He'll like a few treats in this penguin treat box, and the step card penguin is on an action spring.  Even big boys like interactive cards! And, of course, the Pinque Peacock embellishments make them "Oh-so-fun!!"
Here's some close ups of each project:

My husband is going to know just how much I love him because I actually used glitter on this project.  I seriously avoid the stuff at all costs.  But that big ole penguin belly was just screaming for it, so I added a ton of it to the whole thing, and to the pom pom and brim of his hat. And, yes, I have now added it to the entire house.  It happens every time.
Here's a closeup of the felt popper and 3/4 inch red fabric covered button I used on this.

You can find these felt poppers here in the Pinque Peacock store.  They work brilliantly on 3D projects like this one. And the red 3/4 inch fabric covered button just screams Christmas, doesn't it?
How about a look at the side of the box to see how big it is?

I used the Joy's Life Wintery Puns stamp set on this penguin treat box.  The box is a cutting file from The Cutting Café.
Moving on to the interactive card...

I used another felt popper and 3/4 inch red fabric covered button on this card.  Don't they add so much to this cute card?
Both this step card and the penguin are cutting files from The Cutting Café.  I used two stamp sets from Joy's Life on this card:  "Wintery Puns", and "Oh Christmas Puns".
The card stock and designer paper on these projects is all from Close To My Heart.  There's also a Viva Décor Pearl Pen on the penguin's eyes in anthracite.
Here's another view of the card that shows off the embellishments a little better:

Don't you LOVE that black/red combo on the felt popper and button?  It matches my penguin so nicely!
That's it for me.  I've got lots to do before Christmas, so I better get busy!

Are you Ready to See these products IN ACTION?

I have two projects I made for day 1 of this 3-day hop. The first project, a card, features a release from several months ago. But, tell me if you think it works for Christmas:

This card uses the Wild Oak Burlap Splendid Swirl. It came already embellished for me.  Yeah, that was easy! There's also some 3 Girl JAM ribbon peaking through behind it.  The sleigh image (Most Wonderful Time) and the sentiment (Simple Snowman Joy) are both from Unity Stamp Company.  This sleigh is one of my favorites.  I love how whimsical it is.
My second project for today's hop is also a sleigh.  I'm getting ready for Santa!

This 3D Santa's sleigh features a 3/4 inch fabric covered button.  I've used a lot of these this Holiday season.  I just love them.  They often finish off a project with JUST the right touch! And, there's a bit of 3 Girl JAM ribbon on this sleigh, too.
This 3D sleigh is a cutting file from My Scrap Chick. For some reason, it makes me think of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".  I think it's the colors I used.
That's it for me today, but I'll be joining the 3-day hop again on Sunday with 2 more projects.  After this, it's off to visit LISA.

After hopping, be sure to visit the Pinque Peacock Shop on FB to
order these items (and many others) to use on your very own projects!

New Challenge at 3 Girl JAM -- Holiday Gifts Plus Ribbon

Looking for the Pinque Peacock Holiday Hop?  Please click HERE

Hello friends!  It's Friday, and one day closer to Christmas.  There's a new challenge starting today on the 3 Girl JAM Challenge blog.  It will run until Jan. 2.  The theme is Holiday Gifts plus Ribbon.
I made a bunch of treat bags as a little something extra for a Christmas get-together with my staff.  The party happens to be this evening, after we all get done working.  Here's one of the bags I made:

It uses the new 3 Girl JAM Jute Ribbon.  When I first saw this jute ribbon in the Fall, I thought the colors were perfect for Autumn.  Funny, now that it's Christmas, I realize how well all the colors work for Christmas, too.  I guess that shows how versatile it is! I absolutely LOVE this ribbon and string.  AND, it's on SALE.
The treat bag is a cutting file from The Cutting Café.  It's called the Christmas Tree Goody Bag Holder File.  The file is super easy to work with.  The bag cuts out very quickly and assembles even faster. And it's a great size for a few pieces of chocolate, or some other goodies.
OK, now it's your turn! Many of you have made gifts for Christmas.  Link them up with the linky below or on the 3 Girl JAM Challenge blog.  I'd love to see what you've made. Plus, there's a $10 gift certificate to the 3 Girl JAM Store! I could spend that in a heartbeat!

Santa Hats Galore -- for 3 Girl JAM

Hello, blog friends.  I'm posting today on the 3 Girl JAM blog.  Tomorrow, I'm getting together after work with my staff, and I needed cards for each of them. What better way to personalize gifts than with the many colors of 3 Girl JAM ribbon and the new Christmas Flair buttons?  I got busy:

Aren't they adorable?  I'll show you each one so you can see them up close.
I used my Silhouette and the Santa Hat cutting file from The Cutting Café.

I used Echo Park Christmas This & That papers on all 4 Santa hats.  Each was stamped with a sentiment from a Unity Stamp of the Month kit (Oct., 2012).  The first hat features 3 Girl JAM Goblin Green ribbon from the Spooky Bundle, and the peppermint twist Flair from the new Christmas Flair buttons.
Here's hat #2:

This hat uses the new Ribbon Candy Bundle and Christmas Flair button.
Hat #3 coming up:

This hat uses the Spooky Bundle ribbon again and a Pinque Peacock fabric covered button.
And, hat #4:

This hat uses Merlot ribbon from the Wine and Jewels Bundle and another of the adorable Christmas Flair Buttons.
I'll leave you with one last picture of all the hats together.

I promised to announce the winner of the 3 Girl JAM ribbon from last Friday's blog hop on my post today.  Random.org chose comment #11 -- Miriam Prantner!  Congrats, Miriam!  Contact me for you choice of ribbon color.

I can check one more thing off the "to do" list getting these hats made! Thanks for visiting! Come back tomorrow and Sunday.  I'm hopping with the Pinque Peacock design team both days.
